Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez could play his “last game” for the Blues against Sunderland this weekend, according to reports.
The Independent claims that the Argentinian international is being pursued by both Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Fernandez has had a difficult relationship with the club, especially since the sacking of Enzo Maresca. While the Blues are not expected to recoup the £107m they paid for the 25-year-old, a parting of ways is seen as likely, and supporters on X are clearly not happy:
we are going to massively regret this.

Just a shame, there aren’t that many much midfielders available if any with his profile available rn but if he wants to leave we can force him to stay

Ridiculous if you ask me, he deserves a pay rise after the last 2 seasons he’s had, him and Joao have carried the rest of them

He is currently our best player and he should be given whatever he wants.

This is truly sad, why can’t we twerk this model to help keep our best assets

Just end the project, if they are letting our probably best player leave just end it.

Maresca may come back to haunt Chelsea
The Independent have described Fernandez as a “Maresca loyalist”. It is believed that the pair have kept in touch since the Italian’s departure at the start of January.
With Maresca set to replace Pep Guardiola as Man City manager, Fernandez may be tempted by a switch to the Etihad Stadium under the right circumstances.

Fernandez’s future may hinge on Rodri
Real Madrid are said to be keen on two midfielders. In addition to the Chelsea vice-captain, they are weighing up a move for Man City’s former Ballon d’Or winner.
Rodri has been offered a new contract, but he is not believed to be happy with the proposal. He has flirted with a move to Real in recent months.
If the 29-year-old were to make the switch to the Bernabeu, it would block Fernandez’s path, but it would then open the door to the possibility of him replacing Rodri at City.
Chelsea fans would very much hope that Fernandez doesn’t end up staying in England if he departs Stamford Bridge over the coming weeks.
