Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, according to reports.

The Independent claim that the 22-year-old is being eyed as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez.

Supporters on X are split on whether Scott would be a good addition to the first-team squad:

Scott has had a good season for Bournemouth

The midfielder’s stats are not particularly impressive, 4 goals and 1 assist in 34 appearances, but it should be pointed out that Cherries boss Andoni Iraola has changed his role.

Scott has mostly been deployed as a no.6 or no. 8, so that has to be taken into account when assessing his record in front of goal.

He has caught the eye with some of his performances, but it’s still up for debate whether he would be capable of replacing Fernandez.

What would Chelsea have to pay for the player?

The Independent report that Bournemouth would demand at least £50m for the England Under 21 international, who was recruited for around £25m in the summer of 2023.

There is expected to be competition for Scott’s signature as well, with the likes of Manchester United having also been credited with an interest in the player over the past few months.
