Chelsea striker Shim Mheuka is one of three academy players who will be loaned out for the 2026/27 season, according to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella.
The 18-year-old may have been hoping to impress new manager Xabi Alonso in pre-season training after featuring in 4 senior matches last campaign.
However, Kinsella has revealed that Mheuka – along with Premier League 2 Player of the Season winner Harrison Murray-Campbell and Kaiden Wilson – won’t be part of the club’s first team plans going forward.
Other academy talents, such as Reggie Walsh and Jesse Derry, will be present when Alonso takes his first training session next month.
Chelsea have put one player up for sale
Kinsella has also confirmed the status of Axel Disasi. Despite an impressive loan spell at West Ham, he won’t be reintegrated into the first-team squad by Alonso.
The Frenchman and the Blues have mutually agreed to a parting of ways, with two Premier League clubs and a team in Italy said to be keen on securing his services.
Disasi still has three years left on the contract he signed when he first arrived from Monaco in a deal worth £38.5m three summers ago.
Who else could be offloaded this summer?
Chelsea have announced that Brodi Hughes, Richard Olise, Sam Rak-Sakyi and Jimi Tauriainen won’t be getting new contracts. They will be released on June 30th when their current deals expire.
In terms of first-team players, there are doubts over the futures of Marc CucurellaEnzo Fernandez, Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap.
It could be a straight shootout between the latter two. Alonso will have four strikers (including Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Emegha), and it may be the case that one of Jackson and Delap will be sold/loaned out, depending on who doesn’t impress Alonso in pre-season.
