It’s been a really difficult week. Such a busy week trying to keep your emotions in check, trying to focus on the game but also make sure you’ve done everything right in terms of saying bye to the people you need to say bye to. It’s been a really long week and I need to now switch off. Now that the main man’s here (Salah) if I could just say two more things. There’s two other people leaving other clubs today that are pretty important.

Pep Guardiola pushed us to completely new limits, I think both of us will agree with that, and probably we should have won more Premier Leagues if it wasn’t for that man. What a servant to Manchester City and I wish him all the best. And finally, Seamus Coleman, I think when I was growing up he was one of the Premier League full-backs that was really at a very, very high level and he was certainly a better bargain than me at 60 grand! Obviously he’s leaving Everton and he’s been a fantastic servant for that football club and I wish him all the best as well.

On his emotions…

Salah: I cried a lot – I think more than I did in my whole life! But it’s very tough to leave a place like this. Also I cried a bit in the training ground. I’m not really an emotional guy, you guys don’t see that in the media that much. You always see me tough, aggressive but inside me I take it like a baby. It’s very tricky. We left our youth here, sharing everything from the beginning until the end. We wouldn’t even dream of what we had but we did it for this club. We put it back where it belonged.

This is our message to the players in the dressing room. Look, the club now is fighting for everything. The fans will not accept less than that. They don’t care that much about the result as long as you sweat and you give your blood here. They will love you forever. So this is my message to you guys: it’s not about talent, it’s about everything. This is why he (Robertson) is loved more than anyone probably, because he just gave it all on the field and fans love him for that. It’s tricky to leave Liverpool, but this is life and we have to move on.

On Robertson’s contribution…

Salah: He’s very important for the team. He was very important for that period of time we had. I’m really honoured to share the dressing room with him, such a fantastic guy, fantastic player. He was always there for me when I needed him and also (for) the team. It’s very tricky to put it in a word but I’m very blessed to share a dressing room with him for such a long time.

On whether it has hit home that he’s leaving…

Salah: Yeah, I feel it’s life. I look back and I’m like, ‘Would they want more than I achieved?’ Not really. Like collectively and individually, we won it all. The most important thing when we’re leaving – you get to see it like this today – (is that) fans appreciate what you have done for the club, me and him. This is the most important thing. It’s not like, ‘Oh, come on, just go away. We don’t want you anymore.’ No, you see the love from the fans. This is the most important thing for me.

On how he feels… Robertson: Emotionally drained.
