The coach knows the player well, but Tapsoba is under contract with Leverkusen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf something happens, it will happen naturally. Edmond Tapsoba is currently under contract.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Alonso has asked specifically about signing a centre-back<\/h2>\n<p>Writing on his Substack prior to Alonso\u2019s appointment, journalist Simon Phillips <strong>confirmed<\/strong> that the Spaniard had spoken about strengthening the club\u2019s options in the centre of defence.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sra_unit\"><link rel=\"stylesheet\" id=\"block-sra\" href=\"https:\/\/chelseanews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/plugins\/snack-related-articles\/dist\/css\/snack-related.min.css?230424-120159\" type=\"text\/css\" media=\"all\"\/>\n<aside class=\"sra-group sra-related-list\">\n<h2 class=\"sra-group-head\">Most Read on Chelsea News<\/h2>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>With Tapsoba being a centre-half and having worked under the manager before, it is easy to put two and two together.<\/p>\n<p>We named the Burkina Faso international as a <strong>potential target in our list<\/strong> last week, and it seems the defender is keen on reuniting with Alonso.<\/p>\n<h2>It could be another summer of change at Chelsea<\/h2>\n<p><smartframe-embed customer-id=\"0fab81ce12e48a0794275e1d82449fb1\" image-id=\"1077676006\" style=\"width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 100%;\"\/><!-- https:\/\/smartframe.io\/embedding-support --><br \/>Alonso will have his own thoughts on who should stay and who should be sold. <strong>Reports<\/strong> in Spain claim that he already has a working group of 5 players he trusts.<\/p>\n<p>It does seem as if the 44-year-old has identified centre-back as an area of weakness but there could soon be holes to fill in other areas of the pitch as well.<\/p>\n<p>There is now <strong>mounting speculation<\/strong> that Enzo Fernandez could be sold at the end of the season, and with Joao Pedro being heavily linked with Barcelona, the Blues may need to reinforce the midfield and the front line too.
