Giving an update on Alisson\u2019s condition at his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, head coach Arne Slot said: \u201cFor us it\u2019s a bonus every player that comes back because now if you add Mo (Salah) to the injury list, it\u2019s getting longer and longer, but that\u2019s been throughout the whole season.<\/p>\n
\u201cAli hasn\u2019t trained with us yet. (He is) very close to training with us, I have to hear today from the medical staff if he is able to train today or either tomorrow or otherwise the start of next week.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is very close but of course, also we don\u2019t want to take any risks, because that\u2019s never what you do with a player and that\u2019s also not what we do now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Slot was then asked if it would be difficult for Alisson to immediately come back into the XI if he does resume training ahead of Sunday\u2019s game.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think there\u2019s a difference between a goalkeeper and a player,\u201d he replied. \u201cIf a player hasn\u2019t trained for a few weeks, players need to run much more than goalkeepers do.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think the issue with a player is when he\u2019s out for four or five weeks that he forgot to know how to play football, it\u2019s usually that the fitness levels are not at the levels to play at this intensity that the Premier League is asking.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, there\u2019s a difference between a goalkeeper and an outfield player.\u201d<\/p>\n
Slot also revealed left-back Milos Kerkez is dealing with a minor issue but is likely to be available to be involved against United.<\/p>\n
